It is, in fact, very common for a paddler to have a woman bend over, stand up and move 6 inches to the right, bend back over, stand up and move forward 6 inches, etc. This doesn’t happen in every school but it happens in many of them. Some offices actually have “footprints” or tape marks on the floor where the student must place her feet to bend over. If they are doing secret photography this is very valuable so they don’t have to “set up the shot” each time for telephoto cameras. The placement of the victim is fixed. Even in these places women have been told to move a half-inch this way or that—perhaps to center them in the video shot. Alternately it may be because the principals just love the power and scenery when ordering the young lady to stand up, shuffle her feet this way or that, bend back over and arch her butt up, stand back up, move a half inch, bend back over, arch her butt up, spread her legs wider, and etc. Hidden camera photography, however, seems the likeliest reason to me. Occasionally the excuse is given that the paddler needs enough room for his “swing,” but generally there is plenty of room to start with, and moving a few inches would make no difference. In several cases where the female teen victim was ordered to make many minor corrections in exact position and bend over many times the paddling was meted out in a very large office. Nothing was located anywhere near the paddler—certainly nothing that moving an inch would correct. The “witness” would tell the paddler to have her move 6 inches right, etc, and in some cases one inch. In one paddling the victim also had to turn and face another wall for part of the paddling—and she was ordered, confusingly to her at the time, to stare straight at a glass case. When I mentioned the possibility of principals making secret videotapes she said, “Oh my God—THAT’s what they were doing.”
