I was adopted at age six. Both of my adoptive parents worked. Mother taught school for 36 years, and my Father was a Doctor. They just were not in the baby mode at their ages. Their careers were great, and Momma wanted a child to go right to school with her! (My parents were a bit older than most parents back then.) I was just so HAPPY to have someone to LOVE me and CARE about my Welfare! Anyway back then, in 1952, I can recall all the battery of tests I had to endure! Everything was fine I.Q.-wise. (That I wonder about at times, but I have the old yellow paper work.) The only thing they picked up was I was a bit "high strung." Now, what does that mean to you today? I was as ADD/AHD as they came, but no-one understood that at the time! I was known as "Chatty Patty" ALL through school! YES, I got in lots of trouble for talking and being mischievous. In fact it has only been since my Precious Mother has passed away that I will tell people that I made F's in conduct in school!!! Mother and Daddy NEVER SPANKED me. We discussed the problems, and I did have all A"s and B's in every thing else. So..... "Chatty Patty" must have been able to listen and talk! LOL. My Parents NEVER ONCE SPANKED me. When I look back, I would have spanked me! HA! Instead, we always discussed why I did what I did, and what did I think should be done! Mercy, talk about torture! Best part of it all, I was so LOVED, and I knew it!!! Yes, I do know my before life, and it takes a lot more to "make a baby" than to be Loving PARENTS as I had. Bless them! Also, I must confess, I was a little bit of a "Daddy's Girl." In my Father's eyes no one was good enough for his "Chatty Patty." By the way, I still talk a lot -- but that is me and I cannot change me, nor I would not want too!!!!! I could go on forever!!! With My "HIGH STRUNG" (ADD) I cannot sit still to go to a movie, watch T.V., or crowds. Now, I do love to read, and I will keep up with the news. By the way I did teach Language Impaired (SPED) for twenty-five years. I enjoyed it very much , but decided to retire to help out with my Grandson. He has Asperger Syndrome and ADDHD hum! I take him to all his Doctor's appointments. Sometimes I feel like I live at his school just doing the Grandmother thing. He picked out calling me Leelow when he was about nine months old! He is my only Grandchild and, of course, the apple of my eye! When he gets into trouble, I am my Momma's child, we DISCUSS it! No, I do not paddle. You know Jeff, I truly believe a child is brought up like the parent: abuse breeds abuse, love shines through, correct? I could go on. Have a Wonderful Week to and your Family! "Chatty Patty" |
